The DPS SMTE (DPS Science and Mathematics Talent Examination) is conducted by the Delhi Public School Society in collaboration with Science Olympiad Foundation for students of class 9, studying in any of the branches of Delhi Public School all over the world. It is being conducted since the academic session 2008–09, with the aim of selecting 100 students upon merit who are given the chance to attend two academic camps over the two subsequent academic sessions, besides being awarded with cash prizes and mementos. These camps are mainly conducted by leading academicians from around India.

Format of the examination

It is conducted in two levels. The format of the both levels is the same, with 20 questions in Section-I (Physics), 20 questions in Section-II (Chemistry), 20 questions in Section-III (Biology) and 40 questions in Section-IV (Mathematics). The students are required to answer a total 100 questions in 2 hours, with each question carrying one mark and no negative marking for incorrect answers. They are Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) type and the students are required to supply their responses on OMR answer sheets.

Selection Procedure

The DPS SMTE 2010–11 (1st level) was held on October 20, 2011. All students participating in DPS SMTE (1st level) received a Student's Performance Report, giving their Score, School Rank, Inter DPS Rank and Percentile, as well as a Certificate of Participation, both issued by the Science Olympiad Foundation. Students securing Inter DPS Rank from 1 to 500 appeared for the 2nd level examination. The DPS SMTE (2nd level) was held on December 19, 2010. All students participating in DPS SMTE (2nd level) were awarded a Certificate of Merit by Science Olympiad Foundation. The students securing ranks from 1 to 100 were awarded cash prizes and were also invited to attend an academic camp 'Addressing Academic Challenges' conducted by the Delhi Public School Society at the HRD centre of DPS Dwarka from May 23 to 28, 2011. The students attending the camp were awarded certificates issued by the Delhi Public School Society. Meanwhile, the successful students of DPS SMTE 2009–10 were invited to attend an academic camp in Mumbai from June 13-18, 2011.
