Carl Mark Force IV is an American who pled guilty to extorting over $770,000 worth of bitcoins, from Ross W. Ulbricht, the founder of a marketplace on the dark web, when he was an agent of the United States Drug Enforcement Agency.

Ulbricht's marketplace, called the "Silk Road", allowed criminals to covertly conduct business with one another, and pay one another in bitcoins, which law enforcement officials don't know how to trace.
