Apollyon is a fictional character and third-party Transformer homage to Generation 1 Megatron by X-Transbots in 2015.

Apollyon is a third-party Transformer homage to Generation 1 Megatron. Apollyon has the same alternate mode, tech spec numbers and function as Generation 1 Megatron.

Other third-party homages to Megatron include Junkion Blacksmith Destruction Lord, Toyworld Hegemon, Mastershooter Collectibles Mega-Gun and TFC Toys Megashoton.

Apollyon was designed by 539 for X-Transbots.

Apollyon went up for preorder in October 2014.

Apollyon was released in May 2015.

Reprolabels released a set of labels for Apollyon in June 2015.

Art of Apollyon was part of the TFcon USA October 2015 Third Party Panel.[1]

Reviews for Apollyon were mixed. Many praised the figure's appearance highly but criticised the spotty quality control. A common complaint was loose ball joints and sloppy paint application. Replacement shoulder sockets were included in the packaging but for some, even these were too loose.

A second run of Apollyon improved upon his quality control further. A protective plastic film was applied over Apollyon's chest, to prevent scratches during transportation.

The Cybercast podcast for November 1st, 2014 discussed X-Transbots Apollyon and Andras in the news.[2]

The Repacked Podcast podcast for November 18th, 2014 discussed Apollyon in the news.[3]

The Shattered Cast Uncut podcast for November 27th, 2014 discussed Apollyon in the news.[4]

Despite criticism, the TransMissons podcast for January 25th, 2016 announced that Apollyon came in second in a survey of best third-party Transformer figure of 2015, with about 28% of the vote.[5]

Fictional biography

Out of the bottomless pit and from before the dawn of man he comes, bringing deadly peace to Earth. But his thirst for revenge knows no limit, and he won't stop until he's taken his home-world back. He'll unleash his thundering fusion power over the mighty steel warriors, freedom will be extinguished and he'll be king above them all. Behold, Andras the tracker, leader of the swarm; and Eligos, the warmonger, for they are his heralds! They proclaim the all-powerful angel of destruction, tremble when you hear his name...for the reign of Apollyon is near!

The biography for Andras mentions that Andras serves Apollyon's high command.

Apollyon appeared in his instructions comic story. Reflectron informed Apollyon that there was an incoming transmission. In the transmission Andras reported that he and the Swarm had located Eligos and he had locked on to Apollyon's coordinates. Apollyon found this to be excellent news.

Apollyon appears in the Keith's Fantasy Club story They Pull Me Back In where he receives the call for help transmitted by Doubledeck.

  • X-Transbots MX-I Apollyon
Accessories: Asteroid wound chest piece, sigma activation key, clone control helmet, last stand energy sword, mace and chain, pistol of betrayal, battle stand
Apollyon is intended to fit with other figures in the Masterpiece line, but moreover, with MP-10 Convoy. Like the Generation 1 Megatron toy, his stock, silencer and scope can be reassembled into a mobile weapons platform.
His main gimmick is his LED powered light up fusion cannon, which emits a red light when batteries are installed.
In compliance with overseas gun laws, his gun muzzle and silencer were fitted with orange plugs during installation in the factory.
Apollyon is packaged with a generous slew of accessories, all of which are references to iconic scenes from the original cartoon. His hand can be retracted and replaced with his mace and chain accessory, in reference to Megatron's use of the weapon in The Transformers cartoon episode, "More Than Meets the Eye".
