Vorath is a fictional character from the Transformers series. He is the Headmaster partner to the Decepticon Mindwipe. Vorath should not be confused with Wipe, a Japanese character who is based on the same toy.

Transformers: Generation 1

Vorath is the Nebulan Headmaster partner to the Decepticon Mindwipe.

In the Marvel Comics Transformers stories Nebulans are depicted as human-looking aliens, while in the animated series they are green-skinned aliens. In the Ladybird Books stories the Nebulans are human-sized robots.

Fictional biography

Mindwipe is binary-bonded to Vorath, the former Minister of Science of the planet Nebulos. Vorath was expelled from his office when Galen, a member of the ruling Council of Peers, uncovered Vorath's involvement in illegal medical experiments. When contingents of Autobots and Decepticons arrived on Nebulos and plunged the planet into war, Vorath saw an opportunity for revenge on Galen. Galen had allied himself with the Autobots, so Vorath eagerly volunteered to undergo the bio-engineering process that gave him the ability to transform and become the head module of Mindwipe. Although things didn't work out exactly as Vorath had hoped, he fully enjoys his new life as a Decepticon Headmaster.

Reception

Mindwipe was named the 8th oddest thing that G1 Transformers transform into by Topless Robot.[1]

Books

Vorath is among the Decepticons who appeared in the 1988 audio book Decepticons at the Pole by John Grant.[2]

Comics

Dreamwave Productions

Although Vorath did not appear in Dreamwave Productions stories Mindwipe and Vorath did have a biography printed in the Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye comic. Vorath is portrayed as a scientist and skeptic who performed illegal experiments on living test subjects.

Manga

Mindwipe and Vorath appear in the Generations 2011 issue #2 "The Fierce Fighting on Planet Nebulos" where he is among the Decepticon forces who ambush the Autobots on Nebulos.[3]

Marvel Comics

UK-only stories are in italics.

Mindwipe originally appeared in the four issue The Transformers: Headmasters comic, where he was binary bonded to his Headmaster partner Vorath.

Issue #248 of the Marvel UK Transformers comic featured a story called "Fallen Star", where Starscream began to doubt himself, despite being of the most powerful Transformers. Soundwave, Mindwipe and Weirdwolf feared Starscream would attack, but Starscream thought they were laughing at him behind his back. Leaving Starscream came across the Autobots Chainclaw, Cloudburst and Getaway, who were assigned by Optimus Prime to spy on him. Starscream soundly defeated all three Autobots and regained his self confidence.

He last appeared in the US Generation 1 series in issue #75, "On the Edge of Extinction".

Mindwipe made an appearance in the Decepticon forces under the command of Megatron in issue #7 of the Marvel Generation 2 comic series, in a story called "New Dawn". Megatron lead his Decepticons against Jhiaxus's second generation Cybertronians near the moon of Tykos. The Decepticons were defeated and Megatron left injured, presumed dead, but swearing revenge.[4]

Transformers: Mosaic

Vorath appeared in the Transformers: Mosaic story "The Cassandra Effect" by Richard Cookson.[5]
