Hello, I am also known as Mathewignash on Wikipedia. Because they started deleting many fictinal characters from Wikipedia as non-notable, I started copying the deleted ones to WikiAlpha. Mathewignash 15:47, 3 July 2011 (MDT)

Hey Matt, awesome job on all those Transformers articles. Just thought I might ask if you know anyone else on Wikipedia who might be interested in WikiAlpha. If so, maybe you could put in a good word for us and send them this way :). We're trying to expand as fast as possible at the moment. Cheers Richard 17:33, 9 July 2011 (MSD)

I could ask around.Mathewignash 17:35, 9 July 2011 (MSD)

Hi Matt, a fellow friend / collector has allow us to use his pictures here. Only catch is to not remove the watermark. If there's no watermark, inform him then he'll put watermark - http://blackplasticlife.blogspot.com/

Hi, Matt! I was thinking . . . maybe you could set up a page for your designs! You could link to the tinkercad page, and if need be, I could write some bios for you. TerminusIndustries (talk) 00:54, 15 November 2017 (UTC)

Creative Commons licensing

There's a point that's been made on Wikipedia that it's not legal to take Creative Commons licensed stuff there and describe it as public domain here. The approach some people seem to have taken is to put {{wp-cca}} at the top of such pages. Of course, if you wrote the whole page yourself this isn't necessary. I am just a visitor here and I can't tell you what to do, but it seemed like a fair idea. Wnt (talk) 01:43, 20 July 2011 (MSD)

Most of the articles I copied over are deleted, and the majority of the text is from me, but since they did appear on Wikipedia, and most had at least some contributions by other editors, I will add the tage as requested. Feel free to add that tag to any I miss, if they came from Wikipedia and someone is concerned about them, I have no objection. One problem though is that all the articles I moved over to Wikialpha are NOT in their original form, I've continued to update and edit them. I'm not sure if that needs to me mentioned in your tag. Perhaps say they are simply based on an artcicle originally appearing on Wikipedia?Mathewignash (talk) 03:06, 20 July 2011 (MSD)
I think the text in the tag might be fine-tuned a little, but I can't edit it, and in any case it's not that bad as is. Wnt (talk) 18:21, 21 July 2011 (MSD)

SaveArticle

Hey Matt, just letting you know about the new Save Article feature I've written for WikiAlpha. Feel free to use it whenever you need :) Govind (talk) 03:52, 5 December 2011 (MSK)

Hi Mathew

Hi Mathew. Long time no see. Thanks for keeping things running here. It looks like you may have accidently undid part of a conversation I was having with User:Rich Farmbrough. I asked Rich if he'd come over and help with the template stuff here and he's been gracious enough to help. Anyhoo, I undid your undo. Hope you don't mind. Kind regards. • Sorry, sometimes my finger slips on my tablet. Mathewignash (talk) 14:45, 6 June 2012 (MSD)
No problem. I'm really glad you've been keeping things going here. There's some conversations going on over at WikiAlpha:Community portal, if you'd like to join in. Thanks. Web (talk) 15:11, 6 June 2012 (MSD)

Can you delete a page, please?

Hi Mathew. Could you delete Emplate:User 1000/doc for me please? I screwed up and typed "Emplate:User 1000/doc" instead of "Template:User 1000/doc". Thanks for the help. Web (talk) 10:37, 6 June 2012 (MSD)

Thank you. Web (talk) 12:22, 6 June 2012 (MSD)

Question for Mathewignash

Hi,

Are you around? I might know some people who might like to port some articles here. I'm trying to figure out who's around here to ask about it. Stripes (talk) 20:08, 27 July 2012 (MSD)

Thanks for correcting the section title

Stripes (talk) 01:15, 30 July 2012 (MSD)

Welcome

Yeah I made it. This is my first time on a wiki so it is all brand new to me.

Uploading images

I just updated an image to Hexatron. I think I have this worked out now

Seraph

If you haven't made a page for Seraph yet I would like to do it.

Ok, I have set one up but it still needs work. I have to go to work so I can't finish it off yet.

Podcast

When will be the best time for you to do the podcast? It is currently 19:40 here and I am speaking with CenoKibble and his time is 11:10.

As I said before, the weekend will be the best time for this. Also, Rravage's is interested in doing it so that will make it four which is a good number.

I'm available most of the weekend. I"m in eastern US time, which is GMT -5hrs. What are your time zones? Mathewignash (talk) 10:57, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Deleting transformer articles on Wikipedia

Hi Mathew. Long time no see. I wanted to let you know that the deletionists on Wikipedia are getting ready to delete 400+ transformer articles. Please see this thread on Wikipedia. You may want to use the Special:SaveArticle tool to copy them over here before they're all gone. Kind regards. Web (talk) 02:25, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the Welcome

Hi Mathew, thanks for the welcome. I'm actually the owner and operator of StrategyWiki (my user page), so I know my way around a wiki. But I know that every wiki is different and goes by their own unique set of rules. However, I was wondering if it wouldn't be a bit practical to immitate tfwiki's structure for describing the toys themselves. It seems like people who are interested in 3rd part TFs will almost certainly be familiar with tfwiki's structure, and might find any resemblence a bit more intuitive. Just a thought. Plotor (talk) 04:23, 25 January 2014 (UTC)

help?

Hello Matt. I'm new here, and I was wondering if you could add pics to the new page I started, entitled Sledge? Thanks man. [[User:Mercatorprojection|mercatorprojection. Mercatorprojection (talk) 16:45, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

Upcoming Game

Hi Matt, Have a look at http://www.transformersuniverse.com/ an upcoming game about the Transformers. You seem to be good in this area; if you could write an article about it that would be nice. Govind (talk) 01:01, 16 February 2014 (UTC)

AlphaOne

Thank you for your help Mathewignash. At the moment am just filling in what info I can find on these lost characters. But I appreciate any help I can get I'm still new at editing and filling out the information on them.

AlphaOne

Thank you for filling in the info for Airboy but I prefer to fill in the information from scratch. Still thanks again for your help.

I'm Back

Hey Matt, good to speak to you again. I've been gone awhile, and it seems not much has changed here.

Anywho. Too the point, I wanted to know if one could write a article about a summary of a story (fanfiction in particular). Many thanks MercPro (talk) 12:46, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

The author is me dude. Thanks!MercPro (talk) 13:10, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

Have you noticed...

Have you noticed the "save article" feature stopped working a month or two ago? At least it has stopped working for me. It doesn't hang. It returns an empty page. And the page I request transferred does not appear in my contribution list, or in the [[:Deleted:]] name space.

Have you experienced this?

It could be a problem on my end. http://archive.org stopped working for me some time ago, with complaints about trying to pass too many environment variables, or something like that. It works when launched from an incognito page however. Save article doesn't work from incognito pages.

Thanks! Geo Swan (talk) 09:13, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

Yeah, it hasn't worked for me in a while. Mathewignash (talk) 15:55, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
Sorry about that everyone; it should be working now. Let me know if anyone is still having problems with it. Govind (talk) 04:09, 15 August 2015 (UTC)

Server crash on the 3rd November

Hi Matt, I found out the server had a bad crash on 3rd of November. I've just recovered the database, I do not think there was any data loss. I need to move the site to a faster more stable server but I have other pressing commitments, unfortunately. I'm planning to move the site to a replication model (and possibly upgrade MediaWiki to the latest version) sometime in Q1 2016. For reference I've added you on Facebook. That's by far the easiest way for you to contact me if something happens on the server, otherwise I might not learn of it for several days. Cheers Richard (talk)

Dawn of the Predacus

I was not aware of that-I was under the impression that Fun Publications was doing everything this year but would be losing the license after this convention.--OptimusMagnus (talk) 02:57, 22 April 2016 (UTC)

GBWiki content

A condition of GBWiki's CC BY-SA 3.0 license is that remixes must be distributed under the same license as the original. WikiAlpha uses a 'Public Domain' license which is not compatible with CC BY-SA 3.0, so using GBWiki content here isn't actually permissible. Jalaguy (talk) 20:16, 8 January 2017 (UTC)

We are available under the Public Domain, not CC-BY-SA 3.0. It is our current license. CityOfSilver 03:05, 3 July 2017 (UTC)

PWTToo page...

Out of curiosity, why did you revert the edit on the PWTToo page?(TFW2005: HEROBRINE III) TerminusIndustries (talk) 22:23, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

Do you have a source for this rumor? I would love to hear it. Thanks. Mathewignash (talk) 01:03, 15 November 2017 (UTC)

Unreleased 3P TF's

What happened to the page? ~Terminus Industries

I created a page about how when you click "random page" it will nearly always go to one of your articles

I don't know if this is considered "self-promotion" and is seen as bad here but here's the page about it: https://en.wikialpha.org/wiki/WikiAlpha%27s_Random_Page_Button%27s_Transformers_Bias

--Jezza2K (talk) 20:23, 8 May 2019 (UTC)

It probably often comes up a Transformers page written by me because I wrote lots of Transformers pages here. It was one of my first projects when I joined Wikialpha. If you want to change the outcome, feel free to putting years of effort into authoring your own pages for the site until they outnumber my pages. I have tried for a long time to recruit more editors for this site. Have fun! Find a passion and write about it. Mathewignash (talk) 23:00, 8 May 2019 (UTC)

Américo Filipe (Meco)

Hi. This translation is made with Google Translator. My level of English is zero.

On the cover of the wiki it is indicated: "Basically, WikiAlpha is a near-indiscriminate collection of information in the form of articles on any topic: you can create an article about the band you just started, your pet dog, yourself, your house - as long as your content does not fall under our speedy deletion policy, it will likely remain on the site forever!"

I found a deleted wikipedia article in Portuguese that meets the requirements of this wiki. I passed you the content, so you can add it to the wiki, but delete it. Why?

You also don't have the kindness to respond, you just delete. Is this how users are treated here?

Please be kind enough to incorporate the article. Comply with the policies of this wiki. Thank you. I hope to continue bringing lost items from other wikis. Greetings. Tc (talk) 23:21, 28 January 2020 (UTC)

Delete potential copyvio

An article has just been listed on Category:Candidates for speedy deletion as a potential copyvio, so it's best to delete it. TimesSquares (talk) 20:43, 20 February 2020 (UTC)

your opinion please...

Are there conditions under which you think the Kristen Clougherty could be restored?

Deleting the old version of the picture.

Good afternoon. Can I ask you to delete the old version of the picture?

Today I received another request to delete an image, this one claiming to be Alexander Tatarnikov himself.
I suspect https://en.wikialpha.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Walte8 https://en.wikialpha.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Welux8 https://en.wikialpha.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Stella and https://en.wikialpha.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/DiezelSun are all the same person. Do you know how to perform a checkuser to confirm this? Geo Swan (talk) 20:07, 21 October 2020 (UTC)

That picture belongs to my intellectual property. I have the right to ask you to delete it. I don't want the old version to be on the Internet. I created my account today. DiezelSun

Request for Deletion of an Image

Hello, I would like you to delete an image of mine. Here's the link: File:Azraeljdsign.png. And please also delete Azrael Jorithian Djayaprawira and JD Software as I've changed my mind, and decided that I would like to delete those 3 items I've mentioned. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Delete page

I have sent an email requesting Trisha Paravas to be deleted. Please delete as soon as possible. Thanks. TimesSquares (talk) 13:04, 9 December 2020 (UTC)

CSD

Hi! Let's talk about WikiAlpha:Criteria for speedy deletion now. Please disregard my previous comments, and let's start completely again, completely from scratch.

We are following the procedure for CSD Criterion #3, and nothing else.

Azrael Jorithian Djayaprawira had been deleted in good faith due to the following.

3. Author requests deletion
If the author of a page or file is the only substantial contributor, they may request that it be deleted if they so wish. Note that this does not apply to user talk pages, which are never deleted, and that these requests are not binding. Add {{Db-requested}}.

We would like to follow the same procedure that User:SomeDude had followed for Azrael Jorithian Djayaprawira.

User:Ranarian, User:TimesSquares, and User:Albnwunne are the only 3 substantial contributors to the page Trisha Paravas. All 3 of us would like to unanimously vote to delete it because we so wish, and all 3 of us can sign here indicating our unanimous deletion request. Thank you! TimesSquares (talk) 09:52, 10 December 2020 (UTC)

Have you noticed new contributors here who are paid editors...

Have you noticed an increasing number of new contributors here who seem to show signs they are paid to edit?

There is a long discussion on User talk:Geo Swan#Delete page regarding the article about Trish Paravas. They acknowledged the article was not the independent work of volunteers, that they were paid to cut and paste content supplied to them by Ms Paravas, and that, when her circumstances changed, Ms Paravas now demands the article she paid for be deleted.

They seem to think that, in addition to demanding the article's deletion, Ms Paravas can demand a promise that wikialpha will never carry any article on her, in future.

Do you share my concern that the value of our contributions to wikialpha will be undermined if it becomes a popular site people to pay for puff-piece biographies that are not neutrally written, or independent from the subject?

Cheers! Geo Swan (talk) 00:01, 12 December 2020 (UTC)

WikiAlpha isn't Wikipedia. I don't see how restricting or discouraging paid editing would be good for WikiAlpha, because a lot of ex-Wikipedia users come over to WikiAlpha to write about notable topics that Wikipedia admins are deleting out of spite from personal vendettas. Many unpaid editors might appear to be paid, even if they're not, because they're just writing about social media personalities, websites, and companies for fun, while some paid editors try their very best to look like unpaid volunteers. Other users are obviously copying stuff off Wikipedia that is at risk of deletion, which is what the save article feature on WikiAlpha is all about. That being said, I don't get the fuss that those guys are making over at User talk:Geo Swan#Delete page, but that's another story. Knickerswood (talk) 02:00, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
I don't think that "the value of our contributions to WikiAlpha will be undermined if it becomes a popular site people to pay for puff-piece biographies that are not neutrally written, or independent from the subject?" Only the drama-seeking users would likely be problematic, and it wouldn't hurt to get rid of them and quietly bury their contributions if they're turning a peaceful amateur site into a toxic forum for online brawls. Otherwise, I prefer to continue maintaining the quiet, tolerant environment that WikiAlpha is known for, where people can work on their interests and personal pet projects without being harassed left and right. Knickerswood (talk) 02:10, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
Everybodywiki.com and tons of other wikis have this simple policy - Get the obvious troublemakers out of here, don't make a fuss about the drama that they're trying to start, and continue doing what we're doing. One of the few Wikipedia policies that can be useful on WikiAlpha would be WP:DONTFEED. Knickerswood (talk) 02:18, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
