Transformers: The Headmasters is the Japanese-exclusive continuation of The Transformers animated series, the original branch of the Transformers franchise.
Premise
While the American airing of The Transformers ended with the three-part finale "Rebirth," the Japanese series disregarded this story line and took a different route into a more story arc driven fourth season. It saw the introduction of additional characters who didn't appear in the American series due to its earlier cancellation, alternate origin stories for some characters, and additional plot developments.
