Toxitron is the name of several fictional characters from the Transformers series. The original Toxitron was an unreleased figure that was intended to be part of the 2003 Transformers: Universe toy line, and later written in as part of the Transformers: Robots in Disguise story. The second Toxitron was introduced in 2011 as part of the BotCon exclusive comic story. Toxitron is a backwards version of Transformers Animated Optimus Prime, inspired by the Superman character Bizarro. The third Toxitron was introduced in 2016 as part of the Generation 1 story.

Transformers: Universe

Toxitron was first shown at BotCon 2005's "TF Rarities" panel by Rik Alvarez, with people describing it as "amazingly ugly" and "f***ing awesome". Later, it was on display at the "Things you've never seen before (and will never get)" booth at the Hasbro tour at BotCon 2007.

Toxitron was the first attempt by Doctor Scalpel and Oil Slick to protoform a warrior in an Autobot shell. The failed experiment produced a bizarre duplicate of Optimus Prime with immense strength, corrosive toxic sludge cannons, a hopelessly stunted intellect, and a penchant for driving backwards in vehicle mode. Fortunately for the Decepticons, the data from this mishap lead to the greater success with Projects Stunticon and Nemesis Prime.

Like Optimus Prime he can fire a grappling line from his wrist and he carries a jet assisted axe into battle, although he sometimes uses a plunger instead.

Fun Publications

Toxitron first appeared in the Transformers: Timelines story "The Stunt-Con Job". After the events of Transformers Animated the Stunticons set up a Stunt Convoy show in the city of Kaon and used it as cover to attempt to break Megatron out of his detention at Trypticon. Their efforts were thwarted thanks to the efforts of Cheetor, Optimus Prime and Sideswipe. The Stunticons were placed in detention with Megatron and an attempt to rescue them was made by the Decepticons Blot, Mindwipe, Oil Slick, Scalpel, Sky-Byte and Strika.[1]

Fictional biography

Forgotten. Abandoned. Left to rot in purgatory. This will not be the legacy of TOXITRON. A brute found by SHOCKWAVE on the edge of the Sea of Rust foraging for scraps of Energon, TOXITRON was promised a better life, modifications, enhancements and surely a reputation that would last for eons. In a single word: Perfection.

However, perfection failed to live up to its promises and “failure” became the word attributed to TOXITRON's intended upgrades. Left without any of the ‘gifts’ SHOCKWAVE had predicted, TOXITRON was a living weapon. A being who constantly discharged lethal toxins and poisoned anyone around him. When not on missions, TOXITRON had to be kept in a state of Cognizant Stasis to protect his fellow comrades.

Eventually other bots came to process special abilities from SHOCKWAVE’s modifications. More and more time passed between missions until finally TOXITRON was forgotten about altogether. Becoming more and more angered by his abandonment, he vowed to take revenge on those SHOCKWAVE found to be more ‘Perfect’.
