Smart Robin is a fictional character and third-party Transformer homage to Brainstorm and Arcana created by FansProject in 2013.

FansProject

Smart Robin is a third-party Transformer homage to the Autobot Brainstorm. "Smart Robin" is an anagram for "Brainstorm".

Development

FansProject first teased their Function-X line of toys at TFcon 2012, where the Combes Robin version of Smart Robin was seen.[1]

Smart Robin was released in December, 2013.

Reprolabels released a set of Brainstorm themed labels for Smart Robin in April, 2014.

In September 2015 a Smart Robin Masked Soleron was given away as a bonus item to people who ordered the Steel Core Trailer.

In January 2016 FPCore started selling the Smart Robin Masked Soleron on their web site.

In the Fwooshcast podcast for December 14th, 2012 the hosts talked about teaser images of the Function-X toys.[2]

In the Radio Free Cybertron podcast for December 26th, 2012 the FansProject Brainstorm homage was mentioned in their Third Party Roundup.[3]

The WTF@TFW podcast for January 24th, 2014 selected pictures of the Smart Robin prototype as one of the New Picture Picks.[4]

Comics

Smart Robin appears in the battle scene on the back of Tusker and Megazero's boxes, where he is fighting along side Collector and Glacialord.

Smart Robin was the featured character in the FX-03 comics release by FansProject at TFcon 2015. In this story he discovers some suspicious crystals and decides Code should investigate.[13]

Toys

  • FansProject Function-X3 Smart Robin (2013)
An original third-party Transformer mold by FansProject. Comes with pilot, who becomes with humanoid robot head.
His face sculpt is based on the Japanese version of the character.
This toy was recolored into Combes Robin.
  • Reprolabels Labels for FP Smart Robin (2014)
A set of Brainstorm themed labels for Smart Robin which includes Autobot faction symbols.[14]
  • FansProject Smart Robin Masked Soleron (2015)
A new pilot/head for Smart Robin was produced by FansProject that had a masked face.
