The Sharkticons are a group of shark-like Transformers usually associated with the Quintessons in the various continuities of the franchise.

History

Generation 1

Animated series

First introduced in The Transformers: The Movie, the Sharkticons were the Quintessons' favored method of executing "innocent" captives, and after feeding Kranix of Lithone to them they did the same to Hot Rod and Kup. The Autobots proved more formidable than expected, but they were about to be overwhelmed when the Dinobots arrived to rescue them. Grimlock then turned the Sharkticons against their masters, though the rebellion apparently didn't last long. They would be pressed back into service for executions and assault operations.

3H Enterprises/Fun Publications

Three Sharkticons were introduced as minions of Sky-Byte.

Unicron Trilogy

Though not featured in the Transformers: Energon anime, a character named Sharkticon was featured in the toy line.

Aligned Continuity

Animated series

In Transformers: Robots in Disguise, Sharkticons are identified as a Decepticon subspecies that inhabit aquatic environments. The most prominent Sharkticon featured is Hammerstrike, though thus far he has only appeared once in the series; at least one other Sharkticon was present among the inmates of the Alchemor.

Books

The Sharkticons in Transformers: Retribution were featured as inhabitants of a forgotten Cybertronian colony world, Aquatron, which was conquered by the Quintessons. The Sharkticons were enslaved and forced to operate under the command of General Tyrannicon and Commander Gnaw. Eventually they would be used to attack the Autobots and Decepticons upon their arrival, and later sent as an invasion force to Cybertron. However, Megatron would prove to be a prophesied hero of rebellious Sharkticons long since killed, and turned the Sharkticons against their masters. The inhabitants of Aquatron were thus able to throw off their Quintesson oppressors.
