Panthera is a third-party Transformer homage to Generation 1 Blackjack and BotCon 2016 Ravage made by First Party Toys.
Development
First Party Toys announced development of their Predacus inspired combiner in August 2019.
Panthera was first developed as an homage to Ravage with a new head mold, but since it would come released with the original Lightspeed head it was adapted into Blackjack, with the remolded Ravage-inspired head to be released as an add-on.
Panthera is named after the genus Panthera, which includes jaguars. His name was suggested by Mathew Robert Ignash.
When Panthera was first announced it was revealed in a dark grey color. Thanks to fan feedback it was changed to black.
Reception
Fictional biography
Panthera is a sleeper agent of the Dacus command. Originally a shadowy warrior of near infinite patience and uncanny silence, Panthera has been placed in deep cover as the loud-mouthed stunt driving warrior known as the Gambler. When activated by the Dacus command, he reverts to his primary personality as a silent ruthless assassin for their cause. Changes into a sports car which can go from silent prowler to turbo-revving racer in an instant. Carries duel energo-swords and quantum charges into battle. Forms part of the secret Dacus ultimate weapon, Quindacus.
