Overcast is the name of several fictional characters from the Transformers series.

Transformers: Energon

Transformers character
Name Overcast
Autobot
Series Transformers: Energon
Information
Alternate modes Cybertronian Jet
Motto "We must fight alongside our enemy against a common threat."
Rank 10
Sub-group Ultra Vehicles

Overcast is a recolor of Energon Jetfire, and in Japan is simply a power-up of Jetfire, however Hasbro's toy line treated the toy as Jetfire's brother. Overcast's model has represented a powered-up Jetfire in the later episodes of the Energon television series.

Overcast's biography portrayed him as a loner who didn't get involved with the Autobot-Decepticon war. However, after witnessing the destruction of a planet by Unicron, Overcast's priorities changed. He aligned himself with his brother Jetfire to stop Megatron reactivating the Chaos-Bringer.

Fun Publications

Overcast appeared in the text story from Fun Publications called "Force of Habit." This story explained where he was during the events of the Cybertron story. Ultra Magnus was the commander of various Autobot ships sent to other planets in search for the Cyber Planet Keys. He also served as captain of the Iron Hope which was crewed by Bonecrusher, Grimlock, Ironhide, Knock Out, Overcast, Prowl, Quickstrike, RipTide, Skyblast, Smokescreen, Swoop, Wreckage and the Sky Scorcher Mini-Con Team.

Transformers: Cybertron

Transformers character
Name Overcast
Mini-Con
Series Transformers: Cybertron
Transformers: Classic
Information
Alternate modes Cargo Jet
Partner Longarm & Deepdive
Sub-group Giant Planet Mini-Con Team

Overcast is the name of a Mini-Con. He is an original mold for the Cybertron line and turns into a cargo jet and is part of the Giant Planet Mini-Con team. Despite the Cybertron series being a follow up to Energon, these two characters seem to be unrelated. The Giant Planet Mini-Con team is an original Hasbro creation, and did not appear in the Japanese version of the series, Galaxy Force. As the television series was produced in Japan, these Mini-Cons didn't appear in the show.

Overcast's biography was published in issue #13 of the Hasbro Transformers Collectors' Club magazine.

Overcast is the leader of the Giant Planet Mini-Con Team, a gang of Gigantion Mini-Con rebels. His self-image is incredibly over-inflated, even though his main goal in life seems to be little more than to cause trouble for others through pranks and vandalism. A classic bully, he bullies his teammates as well, mostly the spineless Deepdive. After all, Longarm can pound him into the dirt.

Toys

Later releases of the Classics Ultimate Battle Pack of Optimus Prime and Megatron included two randomly picked member of the Giant Planet Mini-Con team as a bonus.
This toy was later redecoed into Timelines Astro-Line.

Transformers

Transformers character
Name Overcast
Decepticon
Series Transformers
Information
Alternate modes MiG-29 "Fulcrum"
Partner Longarm & Deepdive
Rank 4

Though not part of the live-action Transformers film, Overcast is featured as part of the toy line's "Allspark Power" series.

Unusually brilliant, Overcast has always tended to avoid the other Decepticons, preferring instead to work in solitude on customized weapons systems he installs on his own body. He travels the galaxy inflicting his inventions on the unsuspecting, and now he has come to Earth to see how they measure up against the triumphant Autobots. Obscured behind a cloud generated by his built-in weather-makers, he drops nanite bombs capable of corroding and destroying even the most advanced machines.

IDW Publishing

Overcast is among the Decepticons who arrived on Earth under the direction of Soundwave in Transformers: Alliance #3. He arrives in Japan and assumed the form for an Earth jet. In issue #4 he was depicted as being shot down and presumably killed by members of N.E.S.T. over Europe.

Titan Magazines

Note: Stories from the alternate universe where Megatron won the battle for the Allspark are in italics.

Overcast appears in issue #17 of the Titan Transformers Magazine, in a story called "Return to Cybertron: Part 1." He is part of the "New Decepticons" on Cybertron lead by Stockade.

Toys

  • Transformers Deluxe Overcast (2008)
A black and yellow redeco of Deluxe class Dreadwing with blue "Allspark power" paint details. Has missiles that fire from the afterburners (in vehicle mode) or from his "hands" (in robot mode).[2]
With a real MiG-29 being 1737 centimeters long and this toy measuring 17 centimeters long, it would have a scale of 1/102 and he would stand about 50 feet tall in robot mode.
