The Mobile Command Base is a toy made by BTS Toys in 2009 as a third party Transformer accessory. It is an homage to the trailer and Roller drone of Generation 1 Optimus Prime and intended for use with the Classic Voyager Optimus Prime toy. This accessory was also released in a variety of colors with different names as trailers for the various recolors of the Optimus Prime toy.

BTS Toys

The Mobile Command Base with Rollout Drone is an add-on accessory for the Classic Voyager Optimus Prime toy and it's recolors. It was designed as a trailer that becomes a base with a drone similar to Generation 1 Roller.

Toy company Reprolabels designed a label sheet for the Mobile Command Base which makes it look more like the Generation 1 Optimus Prime trailer, including Autobot symbols.

The Mobile Command Base isn't the only third party trailer for Classic Voyager Optimus Prime. There is also the G3 Trailer.

Development

The first teaser image of the Mobile Command Base was posted BTS Toys blog in January of 2009.[1]

Deviantart member Venksta designed the box for Mobile Command Center, as well as providing the name for the drone, and writing the tech spec biography.[2] He also made several other concept designs for the box.[3]

Reception

The WTF@TFW podcast for January 8th, 2009 selected the Mobile Command Base/Nemesis Command Center prototype as one of the New Picture Picks.[4]

Fictional biography

Rollout Drone is a six wheeled scout and often call by different names by his bigger comrades, such as "Rollie". Sharing a direct link to the spark of his Leader, Rollie is sometimes more courageous than his fellow soldiers, often venturing deep into enemy territory to get vital information. Rollie has pulled out of many tough spots, considering his size, and often taking direct ion shots at enemies ten times his size. No matter the danger, he will always roll out for the great good.
