Laura Lentz
Laura Lentz is a conservative Christian pastor, married to high-profile pastor Carl Lentz.[3] The pair were fired from the Hillsong ministry in early November 2020. Her husband was fired for "moral failures" after it became known he had engaged in extramarital affairs. The reasons for Laura Lentz dismissal were not made public.
More senior leaders of the church asserted that Lentz had earlier affairs.[1]
The pair met in Australia, in 2000, and were married in 2003.[2] Laura and Carl had three children.[1]
When the cheating scandal broke The Sun noted that Laura had explained in a May 2020 interview the ways she provided her husband certain freedoms - like retiring to play video-games.[4] She explained that at least she would know he was at home, when he retired to play video games - when he could be engaged in worse activities.
Laura spoke out on the scandal, on May 5, 2021, the 18th anniversary of their marriage.[5][1]
On May 31, 2021, Leona Kimes, who had been employed in the Lentz home from 2011 to 2017, described experiencing an escalating pattern of disturbing sexual harrassment from Carl, that ultimately led to Laura telling her she needed to repent, and then firing her.[6][7][8][9][8][10] On June 2, 2021, representatives for Laura and Carl denied Kimes claims.[11]
