Jair Bolsonaro

Jair Messias Bolsonaro,born 21st of March 1955,is a right wing nationalist Brazilian politician and retired military officer, currently serving as the President of Brazil since the 1st of January 2019.


Domestic policy

Soon after taking office, Bolsonaro transferred land reform duties from the National Indigenous Foundation to the Ministry of Agriculture. Most of the remaining duties previously assigned to the NIF are now part of the Ministry of Women, Family and Human Rights. On January 15th 2019 Bolsonaro issued a decree extends the valid gun ownership period from five to ten years, and allows citizens to own up to four firearms. In early February Bolsonaro announced plans to revise textbooks and to remove references to feminism, homosexuality and violence against women. He also announced that the military will take over some public schools.
