Head Shots Vol. 3 is a set of fictional character heads made by Play With This Too. The heads are Gentleman Fantastico MD, Maqua and Talix.
Play With This Too
Gentleman Fantastico MD, Maqua and Talix are three fictional characters and toy heads made by Play With This Too. They are intended for hobbyists to use in making custom action figures.
Development
The Head Shots Vol. 3 were designed by Rik Alvarez and Ken Christiansen. Talix is named after Rik Alvarez's former boss Scott Talis.
The crowd funding exclusive colors for Head Shots Vol. 3 were displayed on the Play With This Too Facebook page in November 2014. According to them the Masters of the Universe Faker body would be a good match for Gentleman Fantastic MD's head. The retail color were announced in the Lost Protectors Kickstarter.
Head Shots Vol. 3 were among the stretch goals for the unsuccessful Lost Protectors Kickstarter campaign. They were to be unlocked if the campaign raised at least $155,000.[1]
Reception
The Retro Robot Radio show for October 25th, 2014 interviewed Rik Alvarez. The show discussed Play With This Too team members Mark Wong, Steve Redinger, Trent Troop, Ken Christiansen, Aaron Archer and Simon Furman. It also talked about the toys for Ancient Astronaut, Astroblast, Bloodbath, Boneyard, Desolataur, Jetwash and Steel Cock as well as the first three volumes of Head Shots.[2]
The Shattered Cast Uncut podcast for October 30th, 2014 discussed Ancient Astronaut, Astroblast, Bloodbath, Boneyard, Desolataur, Jetwash and Head Shots Vol. 1 through 3 in the news. The hosts liked the Pretender homages, but did not understand the Head Shots. They said some of the designs reminded them of characters from Inhumanoids, Men in Black and Ren and Stimpy.[3]
The WTF@TFW podcast for November 1st, 2014 discussed the Ancient Astronaut, Bloodbath, Boneyard, Desolataur, Flarestrike, Jetwash and Head Shots Vol. 1 through 3 in the news. They said Xando looks like a G.I. Joe alien and talked about Aaron Archer and Simon Furman joining Play With This Too.[4]
The Star To Star Toys News for December 12th, 2014 interviewed Rik Alvarez about Play With This Too. Rik talked about getting Aaron Archer to join the company, how the crowd funding would start with 4 figures and have stretch goals to 33 figures the Play With Yourself box set and the naming of Talix from Head Shots Vol. 3. Rik played with a prototype of the sword for Desolataur/Sir Pythanore during the show.[5]
