Gregory Paul Peddle was a seaman in the Canadian Coast Guard who had one of its hero class patrol vessels named after him.[1][2][3][4] Peddle was in command of a fast rescue craft that was attempting to rescue a diver who was caught in a rip-tide off Middle Cove, Newfoundland, on October 15, 1989. Peddle and two other seamen crewing the rescue craft drowned in the rescue attempt.
