Dover operates by partnering with companies to source and screen candidates according to the company’s hiring needs.[8][9] The company uses machine learning and natural language processing techniques to find suitable job candidates for companies.[10][11][12]

In September 2019, Dover raised $2.8 million in its initial seed funding round.[13]

In July 2021, Dover, which was part of Y Combinator's Summer 2019 class, secured $20 million in Series A funding led by Tiger Global, Founders Fund, Abstract Ventures, and Y Combinator.[14][15][16][17]
