Cody Moxam, an accomplished American scholar specializing in psychology, counseling, and healthcare, has made notable contributions to both academia and his community at the University of Colorado Boulder. Recognized for his work as a scholar at the renowned Renée Crown Wellness Institute, Moxam played a significant role in co-designing the Mindful Campus Program and the academic course titled "Flourishing, Belonging, and Liberation" at CU Boulder.[1][2] Furthermore, he actively participated as a member of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee, while also serving as an Ambassador of Recovery for the CU Collegiate Recovery Center (CUCRC).

Moxam's academic achievements included authoring an independent honors thesis titled "The Effect of a Mental Health Intervention on Health Behaviors Among Cancer Survivors: Randomized Trial of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Anxious Cancer Survivors in Community Clinics." He presented this thesis at the UROP Sidewalk Symposium. As an undergraduate research assistant, he also collaborated in the development of the Mindful Campus Program and the academic course focused on mindfulness and social justice, titled "Flourishing, Belonging, and Liberation."

Throughout his time at CU Boulder, Moxam received various scholarships, including the Barry and Sue Baer Scholarship Endowed Crown Institute Scholarship, the CU Arts and Sciences GOLD Scholarship, the Samuel DeFord Scholarship from the University of Colorado Collegiate Recovery Center, and the David E. Drutz Undergraduate Psychology Scholarship and Award

Currently, Moxam is pursuing pre-medical studies at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, further expanding his knowledge in the medical field.

Career

In terms of his career, Moxam has held positions at Choice House in Boulder, Colorado as a Behavioral Health Technician, as well as at the CU Department of Emergency Medicine, where he served as a Certified Physician Shadow. He is certified as a Medical Scribe in both General and Emergency Medicine, and as a Certified Addiction Technician (CAT) in the state of Colorado. Moxam has also obtained certification as a yoga instructor (RYT), further emphasizing his dedication to holistic well-being.

Community service

Moxam's commitment to community service is evident through his involvement as a community leader at CU Boulder. He actively participated in the CU Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee, contributing significantly to organizing recurring community events and dinners for underrepresented students. Furthermore, as an Ambassador of Recovery for the CU Collegiate Recovery Center, he played a crucial role in facilitating weekly community meetings and overseeing recovery housing for students in their journey towards overcoming addiction. Additionally, Moxam has been a dedicated sponsor for 12-step recovery programs, providing mentorship and conducting regular meetings with individuals seeking support.

Personal life

Outside of his professional pursuits, Moxam indulges in a range of hobbies during his leisure time. These include exploring poetry writing, surfing, practicing mindfulness and meditation, engaging in sand volleyball and rock climbing, expressing himself through dance, and writing and performing music. Noteworthy musical artists that he admires include Daft Punk, Roger, Skrillex, Daebull, and Parliament Funkadelic.
