Christopher Roy Garland (also known as Chris Garland[1]) is a businessman and executive based in Gaborone, Botswana. He is specializes in various areas, ranging from financial planning to investment consulting. Garland has also consulted for various projects all over Africa, including Botswana, South Africa, Zambia, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and Kenya.[2]

Early life

Christopher Roy Garland was born in Plymouth, England, in the United Kingdom.[3] He completed his schooling in Plymouth in 1970, and later moved to South Africa.[4]

Career

Chris Garland is a Certified Financial Planner. He obtained an Honours degree from the University of Free State in South Africa in 1985. In 1985, he joined the Financial Planning Institute of South Africa.

Since 1991, Garland has been the managing director of Fidelity Indemnity (Pty) Limited.[5] The company provides financial planning services for both individuals and corporations.[6]

Garland has also served as Chairman of the Board of Westwood International School. He is also a non-executive Director of the boards of the Botswana International Financial Services Centre (IFSC), Botswana Export and Development Investment Authority (BEDIA).[7]

Personal life

Garland has been married to his wife for more than 40 years and also has two children.

Hobbies and interests

Since 1997, Garland has held an FAA Qualified Commercial Multi-Engine Pilot license and Instrument rating. As an experienced aircraft pilot, he is a member of AOPA (the United States Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association).[8]

Philanthropy

Garland is also active as a philanthropist. As a philanthropist, Christopher Garland supports various charities in southern Africa, such as SA Guide-Dogs and Equinox Trust. [9]
