Bloodbath is a fictional character and third-party Transformer homage to Blood and Bomb-Burst made by Play With This Too.

Lost Protectors

Bloodbath is a fictional character created by Play With This Too as part of their Lost Protectors series. He is a powerful and evil Vampire Cosmic. He is fallen royalty, who is spiteful and vengeful. He is looking for revenge on King Coldfang, and to that end has allied himself with the Space Demon Desolataur. He has all the powers common to the Vampires Cosmic, including enhanced hearing, a healing factor, night vision, superhuman durability, longevity and strength and the ability to walk up walls. In addition he can hypnotize others into thinking he looks human and can spit blinding blood. Like all Vampires Cosmic he is starlight burns him, and he can be placed in stasis with cold or a stake to the heart.

His weapon of choice is his Nightmare Scythe, which opens up portals to the Null Miasma. He has a demon imp possessed Tech Drone partner named D-Throne who turns into his backpack, and whose arms become rifles. He travels through space in his Starcophagus.

Development

Bloodbath is an homage to Generation 1 Bomb-Burst/Blood.

Desolataur, which uses many of the same parts of Bloodbath, was designed by Steve Redinger.

The character of Bloodbath was first hinted at in artwork for Desolataur, where he was referred to as "other creature". His weapon was to be called the Saw Slasher, but later renamed the Nightmare Scythe.

A colored segment of Bloodbath's art was tweeted out by Play With This Too just before TFcon 2014.

Bloodbath was revealed at TFcon Chicago 2014. Art was displayed at a table, then it was part of the Third Party Panel.

In December 2014 Play With This Too released images of the prototype for Bloodbath's weapon.

In February 2015 Play With This Too released images of the prototype for Desolataur, which included parts used on Bloodbath.

Bloodbath was one of the 5 figures offered in the unsuccessful Lost Protectors Kickstarter. The campaign ended short of its goal with only $71,625 of $80,000 pledged.[1]

In June 2015 Play With This Too announced they would be doing another Kickstarter. Bloodbath would not be among the figures offered in this Kickstarter, and it was being reworked to offer more articulation.[2]

In March 2017 Prize Inside released three versions of his Nightmare Scythe on their Shapeways store.

Fictional biography

Bloodbath with the Nightmare Scythe
The would-be usurper of King Coldfang, the creature known as Bloodbath is forever on the run. The Vampires Cosmic and their lesser vampire descendants now stalk him across the galaxy in retribution for multiple crimes against his King. His powers of mind control allow him to infiltrate transport ships and feed upon their crews as he wanders from world to world. In his exile, Bloodbath has turned to Desolataurs service in the hopes of gaining supremacy over the vampire covens, and act that has only further enraged his former master.
One of the 66 Weapons of Ultimate Evil, the Nightmare Scythe can open gates into the Null Miasma, a dark dimension filled with monsters, by tearing them into the fabric of space.

The biography for Bitemark says that he has devoted his unlife to delivering the head of Bloodbath to King Coldfang.

According to the biography for Skull-F, when Bloodbath first sought aid from the shadowy realm known as the Null Miasma, he first sought an ally he could control, a mid-level demon of war and savagery. Thanks to Goldminer's interference, the demon's very essence was inverted, and what was pulled through was a lovable, well-meaning creature rather than a slathering engine of destruction.
