Bladeback is a fictional character and third-party Transformer homage to Generation 1 Snarl made by Keith's Fantasy Club.

Keith's Fantasy Club

Bladeback is a homage to the 1985 Dinobot Snarl. He turns from stegosaurus to microcassette.

Other third-party Transformers inspired by Snarl include JustIToys Desert Warrior Snarl and Toyworld Roar.

Development

In May 2013 Keith's Fantasy Club teased images of microcassettes with the names of species of prehistoric reptiles on them.[1]

The name Bladeback was suggested to Keith's Fantasy Club by Mathew Robert Ignash.

Concept art of King Rex and Bladeback was previewed at TFcon 2013's Third Party Panel.[2]

Reception

The Good Morning, Cybertron! podcast for July 29th, 2013 discussed the Keith's Fantasy Club Airdancer, Haiku, Evil Ironpaw, Justice Ironpaw, King Rex and Bladeback, Night Stalker, Overslay and Haymaker and Sencho Barbossa in the news.[3]

Toys

Bladeback is a remold of Haymaker and Hema-Fright, with a different head and weapons. He turns from robotic Stegosaurus into microcassette and comes with two guns. Shares the same basic design with Backslash.
He is often sold bundled with King Rex.
