BT-001 EXA

The BT-001 EXA Unit(Standing for Experimental Armor) is the primary mobile suit of The Suffering Edge. A prototype mobile weapon created by the British Armed Forces in the 1970s, the EXA unit is piloted by Marina Ellsworth, the main protagonist, who uses it to defend herself against against Clarissa Hollington, her longtime tormentor. It is based on the HER-SELF Mobile Doll Sarah's "MS Mode" from Gundam Build Divers.

During the story, it is revealed that Ms. Angel intends to use the EXA Unit for hers and Clarissa's own purposes.

Technology and Combat Characteristics

The EXA Unit's main feature is a miniature particle accelerator, which serves as the suit's power source. This, combined with its thrusters, allows the EXA Unit to hover under its own power. However, the suit initially lacks any offensive capabilities, due to its experimental nature.

Marina's Personality

Marina is cynical and pessimistic, and harbors a great hatred for Clarissa, due to the abuse she had suffered from her. Unlike most Gundam protagonists, Marina's personality remains the same throughout the first and second story, however, the revelation of Ms. Angel's intentions heighten her resentment for Clarissa, causing her to become somewhat misanthropic.

Particle Control System: Unlike most mobile suits, the EXA Unit is not equipped with any weaponry.

EXA Unit BURST

After the first battle with the EXA-P2, the EXA UNIT is retrofitted for combat by Marina, using the remains of the YM-MS-01 "Maiden". Keith would later modify the R-Collider further.

00X Prototype Handheld MS Armament: A beam rifle, capable of denting a mobile suit's armor. However, it can only contain a limited amount of energy before being rendered useless.
