BA-001 EXA

The BA-001 EXA Unit(Standing for British Army Experimental Armor) is the primary mobile suit of The Suffering Edge. A prototype mobile weapon created by the British Armed Forces in the 1970s, the EXA unit is piloted by Marina Ellsworth, the main protagonist, who uses it to defend herself against against Clarissa Hollington, her longtime tormentor. It is based on the HER-SELF Mobile Doll Sarah's "MS Mode" from Gundam Build Divers.

During the story, it is revealed that Ms. Angel intends to use the EXA Unit for hers and Clarissa's own purposes.

Technology and Combat Characteristics

The EXA Unit's main feature is a miniature "particle reactor", which serves as the unit's power source. This, combined with its anti-plasma propulsion system, allows the EXA Unit to hover under its own power. However, the suit initially lacks any offensive capabilities, due to its experimental nature.

Marina's Personality

Marina is cynical and pessimistic, and harbors a great hatred for Clarissa, due to the abuse she had suffered from her. Unlike most Gundam protagonists, Marina's personality remains the same throughout the first and second story, however, the revelation of Ms. Angel's intentions heighten her resentment for Clarissa, causing her to become somewhat misanthropic.

Cameras: The EXA Unit's cameras have high precision, allowing the pilot to pin-point a mobile suit's weak points.

BA-001+2 EXA BURST

After the violent battle with the EXA-P2 which ended with its destruction, the EXA UNIT is hastily rebuilt retrofitted for combat by Marina and Mr. Jones, assembling this hurriedly-repaired version of the unit from both it and the BA-002 Lohengrin's remains, resulting in the BA-001+2 EXA BURST. Despite being made from the remains of the Lohengrin, the Shifter System has been damaged beyond repair, and the original EXA Unit's particle reactor has been replace with a nuclear fission engine.

Equipment

00X Prototype Handheld Plasma Armament: Two beam rifles, designed to fire shots of plasma capable of denting a mobile suit's armor. However, it can only contain a limited amount of energy before being rendered useless.

EMP Generator: While the suit is unable to transform, the EXA BURST has still access to the Lohengrin's EMP Generator. This creates an blast of electromagnetic energy, capable of disabling electronic equipment, including those installed inside of a mobile suit.
