Arik Morshed (Bangla:এরিক মোরশেদ); born September 22, 1970) is a prominent Bangladeshi businessman, diplomat, and Honorary Consul in Bangladesh, representing the Consulate of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

Early life

Arik Morshed was born to Brigadier General Sk. Abu Bakr (Retd), an honorable member of the National Parliament during the 9th Parliament Session. His father, a freedom fighter, transitioned from a Senior Military Officer to a politician. Sk Abu Bakr also served as a member of the advisory board of the Bangladesh Awami League before becoming a National Parliament member. Arik Morshed received his education at Sylhet Cadet College, Bangladesh, from 1983 to 1989. He completed his Bachelor of Business Administration from Humber College, Canada, in 1993, followed by a Master of Business Administration from Lakehead University, Canada, in 1995. In 2019, he was awarded an honorary Ph.D. in Public Policy from World Peace University. Additionally, Arik Morshed pursued his Second MBA in Marketing from the University of Scholars, completing it in the year 2023.

Training

  • Three months specialized course in Contemporary Politics from the University of Oxford (July 2013).
  • Capstone Course on National Security, Defense Policy, and Civil-Military Relationship (CMR) from the National Defense College (NDC), Bangladesh, in 2017.
  • Certificate courses in Human Resource Management, Organization Leadership, Team Development, and International Politics from the International Business Management Institute (IBMI) in 2018.
  • Participated in DREE 2022, organized by the Government of Bangladesh Armed Forces Division & Ministry of Disaster Management along with forces of US Pacific Command.

Career

In 1996, Arik Morshed began his career as the Manager of Administration and HRM at Aero Bengal Airlines, the first private airline in Bangladesh. From 1998 to 2001, he served as faculty at the American International University Bangladesh (AIUB). Between 2016 and 2019, Arik Morshed worked as a Research Fellow at World Peace University. Since 1998, he has held the position of CEO at The Aero Vision Bangladesh Limited, overseeing airline representative offices in the Bangladeshi market and representing several international passenger airlines. Currently, Arik Morshed serves as an Associate Professor for the Department of Business Administration at the University of Scholars. He also holds the roles of Overseas student Civil Sponsor at Defence Services and Command Staff College ( DSCSC) since 2010. He is the advisor at Bangabandhu Research Institute[1] , and Director of External Affairs at the University of Scholars. He has also chaired the Governing Body of Lakshipasha Ideal Girls College, Narail, Bangladesh, where he is a donor member of the board of trustees.
