SM Rafiq
SM Rafiqul Islam, professionally known as SM Rafiq, is a Bangladeshi Politician and current count Councilor of Kumarkhali Pourosova.

SM Rafiq (Born 10 September 1980, Kushtia, Bangladesh) is a Bangladeshi Politician.
Political life
He started his Political career in 2000. Since 2010, He has been serving as Councilor and Panel Mayor (2) of Kumarkhali Pourosova Ward No. 5 for 3 (three) times and serving as Vice President of Kumarkhali Thana Jubo League. From 2000 to 2010 he had the general secretary of Kumarkhali Pouro volunteer League. He had a member of the convening committee of Kumarkhali Upazila Jubo League in 2012-2014. He had the joint convener of Kumarkhali Upazila Jubo League in 2014-2016. he had a member of the convening committee of Kushtia District Jubo League from 17th April 2015 to 2017 and he had 2016-2018 Co-convener of Kumarkhali Upazila Jubo League
Career
SM Rafiq was elected to the Kumarkhali Pourosova in Bangladesh Pourosova Election, 2010 from the Kumarkhali Pourosova. 2nd time he Taposh vehicle came under bomb attack on 21 October 2009. There was property damage and 13 people were injured in the attack In the 2014 general election he was elected unopposed to represent the Dhaka-10 constituency. In 2015 there was a bomb attack on his rally. In 2018 election he has been elected as member of parliament for consecutive third time.
In 2020, he won the Dhaka Mayoral Election and became the mayor of Dhaka South He gets status of Full minister from 8 August, 2022 along with DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam.
