Gregory Zanetti

Gregory Zanetti is an financial advisor, from New Mexico, and a former General officer in the United States Army.[1][2][3] Brigadier General Zanetti is currently the deputy commander of Joint Task Force Guantanamo.[4] On August 13 2008 Zanetti testified at a pre-trial hearing prior to Guantanamo captive Mohammed Jawad's Guantanamo military commission.[2] Carol Rosenberg, writing in the Miami Herald, quoted Zanetti characterizing Brigadier General Thomas W. Hartmann's approach to charging Guantanamo captives as:
- "Spray and pray. Charge everybody. Let's go. Speed, speed, speed."
According to Rosenberg Zanetti described Hartmann's treatment of his subordinates as[2]:
- "abusive, bullying and unprofessional . . . pretty much across the board."
Zanetti's Guantanamo hitch ended in January 2009.[5]
Zanetti's wife, Teresa Zanetti, was a state legislator, in New Mexico.[6][7] In 2009 Zanetti considered running for Governor of New Mexico, and he officially announced his candidacy in June 2021.
